Douglas Allen Zahnow

Douglas A. (Lichtenberg) Zahnow, age 71, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Tucson, AZ where he lived.

A visitation with light refreshments will be held from 1-2pm, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with a short service following at 2pm. Full military honors will follow the service. Please share a memory of Doug online at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Doug was born November 20, 1949 to Donald Sr. and Doris Zahnow in Olivia, MN. He attended school in a one-room country school across from his family’s farm. He graduated from Olivia High School and graduated from the U of M. with a B.S. He was an Army Core of Engineer from 1971-1974.

Doug worked in several places and retired as a rural mail carrier in Renville, MN. He married Mary Ourada Lichtenberg in 2002. They moved to Tucson, AZ in 2016.

Doug’s greatest love in live, besides his kids and wife, was motorcycles which progressed to trikes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter and granddaughter, Marlana and Diana Zahnow of Wilmar, MN; son and grandson, Michael and Austin Zahnow of Phoenix; daughter, Jodi Zahnow of Hutchinson, MN; and his service dog, Sammy.

Because we are not promised a day, a month, or a year on this earth – he always told his family, “I love you.”
