Dudley Ronald Stevenson, age 82, of Lake Crystal, died Friday, April 29, 2022 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lake Crystal Fire Department, Lake Crystal American Legion, or First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal.

Dudley was born April 17, 1940, to Gordon M. and Mildred M. (Brouilette) Stevenson in Lake Crystal. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1958. Dudley ran Dudley’s Popcorn Wagon during his high school years and helped area farmers. He married Marilyn W. Klaes on April 28, 1962, at the First United Methodist Church of Lake Crystal.

In the 1960s and early 1970s, Dudley worked for Richmond Feed Service, operated Dud’s Dairy Sales, was co-owner of Tri Lake Sporting Sales selling Alloutte snowmobiles and Starcraft campers and operated Lake Crystal’s Big Top Roller Rink. In 1975, he became co-owner of the Lake Crystal Bus Service, driving charter and school buses with the motto “Miles of Smiles”. In 1990, the charter bus service was sold and he operated the school bus service until retiring in 1998.

Dudley served in the Army National Guard, was a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion, First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal, Lions Club, Lake Crystal Ambulance Crew, Lake Crystal City Council, Bethel Masonic Lodge of Lake Crystal, and the Lake Crystal Fire Department for 28 years where he served as Fire Chief from 1970-1976. Dudley enjoyed traveling, pontooning, being on the lake, hunting, fishing with the Squatty Dog Fishing Crew, making homemade horseradish with friends, and wintering in Arizona for 15 years.

Dudley is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; two children, Grant (Megan) Stevenson of Woodbury and Lynn (Bruce) Schultz of Madelia; six grandchildren, Erin, Eleanore, and Grace Stevenson; Jordan (Joshua Goodburn) Schultz, Kyle Schultz and Rachel Schultz; two great-granddaughters, Alivia and Ryan Goodburn; sisters-in-law, Janice Stevenson of San Diego, Shirley Klaes of Minneapolis, and Betty (Neil) Pedersen of rural Lake Crystal; nieces and nephews.

Dudley was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Louis Hassing; brother, Eugene; granddaughter, Emma; father-in-law, Harold Klaes and mother-in-law, Marie Klaes Pahl.
