Elaine L Larson

Elaine L. Larson age 93, of Mankato died Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Pillars of Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Elaine was born on November 24, 1927 to Ephraim and Louise Magnuson in Lansing, MN and grew upon a farm southwest of town. Elaine graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1945. She received a stenographer degree from Mankato Commercial College in 1947 and married Donald Larson in January of 1948 in Mankato. They raised 4 children, Rodney, Craig, Julie and Gloria.

Elaine had a passion for volunteering and caring for others. She volunteered at the Mankato Thrift Shop for five decades and was active at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Mankato. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, canning, freezing food, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her hospitality and her ability to make everyone she interacted with feel special and valued.

Survived by her four children, Rodney (Lee Ann) Larson of Elysian, MN, Craig (Madeline) Larson of Burnsville, MN, Julie (Donald) Strusz of Mankato, MN, Gloria (Steve) Roed of Lino Lakes, MN; ten grandchildren, Matthew Larson, Meredith (Chris) Adams, Trent (Nicole) Larson, Troy Larson, Karen Will, James (Jenny) Strusz, Amy (Yuri) Selby-Pfahl, Kevin Roed, Sylvia Roed, and Steve Roed. 16 great-grandchildren; sister Gayla (Gale) Russell; two brothers, Burton (Paula) Magnuson, Dennis (Diana) Magnuson; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 1986, brother, Sydney Magnuson, sister, Carole, and an infant sister.
