Eleanor Wittrock

Eleanor M. Wittrock, 95, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2023 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation in Mankato.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., June 24, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice, Mankato. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com

Eleanor Kreitinger was born on March 5, 1928 in Springfield, MN to Louis and Johanna (Schotzko) Kreitinger. She graduated from Springfield High School and later Mankato State Teachers College.

Eleanor taught first grade in Sleepy Eye, MN before marrying John J. “Rocky” Wittrock in Springfield, MN on Sept 1, 1951. She worked in the alteration department of J.C. Penney Co. for 18 years before retiring in 1987.

She was a very active member of the Holy Rosary Church and the Ladies Society.  She was also a member of the Blue Earth Co. Historical Society and performed with the Homestead Players and the Ghosts from the Past.  She enjoyed water aerobics, knitting and quilting.

Eleanor is survived by her sons, Dave (JoAnn) Wittrock, Daniel (Maribeth) Wittrock, James Wittrock, Bill (Jeannette) Wittrock, and Thomas (Diana) Wittrock; 14 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Vivian Wittrock.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, John “Rocky” Wittrock; brother, John Kreitinger; sister, Elizabeth Michelich, her son, Louis Wittrock and Jim’s wife, Patti Wittrock.
