Betty was born on June 3rd, 1939, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, MN to John Ward and Francis Ann Kluntz. She was the eldest of 12 brothers and sisters all raised on the family farm located next to Lake Jefferson in the Cleveland, MN Township. She worked and resided at the farm, supporting her immediate family members up and until she met and married John David (Dave) Kinney on August 9th, 1969. Betty lived a life dedicated to the service and support of others beginning with her immediate/extended family, local church groups, and community organizations wherever she resided: a member of multiple women’s church guilds, councils, and groups, a eucharistic minister, hospice and election volunteer, teacher’s union worker, and rose society officer; she was constantly giving of her time, talent, and treasure to others. Her passions included gardening, where she supported growing over 270 rose bushes in her yard that became the subject of numerous garden tours and produced many prize-winning blooms. An avid baker, she dedicated herself to raising the bar for birthday and other family/holiday gatherings with elaborately decorated cakes that were worthy of any Food Network baking competition and created for the sole purpose of elevating and making our celebration even more special.
Betty is survived by her children, James (Jennifer) Kinney, and Cathleen Kinney; grandchildren, Quinten Kinney and Breanna Kinney; 8 siblings; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Francis Kluntz; husband, John David Kinney; and 3 siblings.
