Eloise Eleanor Ward

Eloise Eleanor Ward (Oltmann), 95, died at Brookdale Senior Living, in Mankato, August 10, 2023 from natural causes.

She was born in Vernon Center on December 1, 1927 at home.

She married George Ward, Jr. at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center on August 26, 1944. They farmed together in rural Good Thunder. Besides farming, she served on church groups as treasurer and stewardship committees and quilted with the church for over 61 years. Eloise also served as township clerk and as a trustee on Medo McPherson Cemetery. Eloise also did tailoring on the side for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Sophia Oltmann; husband, George Ward; brother, Herbert Oltmann; and sisters, Josephine Davitt and Viola Potz.

Eloise is survived by daughters, Jean Mittelsteadt (Randall); and AshleyRose Allen (Don); sister-in-law, Charlotte Oltmann; grandchildren, Shalom Mittelsteadt, Amber Atak, Michael Krause (Corrin), Bruce John Krause (Alana), and Dustin Borchardt. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday, August 25, 2023 at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001). Funeral service at 11am, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at a later date at Medo McPherson Cemetery.
