Florinne Marie Alders

Florinne Marie (Glebe) Alders, 95, died January 18, 2022 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center under hospice care.  A private family burial will take place Friday, January 21, 2022.

Flo was born to Floyd and Jennie (Hall) Glebe March 22, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska.  She lost her mother in childbirth and was raised by her grandparents, Robert and Annie Hall, along with their 5 remaining children, in Fairbury, Nebraska.

Flo graduated from high school in 1944 and attended college before she married Dean Alders August 18, 1947. Flo and Dean celebrated 69 years of marriage before his death in 2017.

She began her teaching career in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. After the family moved to Mankato in 1955, she completed her Education degree at Mankato State College and was an educator in the Mankato school district, teaching those with special education needs and 2nd graders.

She loved to read and knit. She became queen of the Sudoku puzzle in her later years. She treasured her Irish roots where her mother (Annie) was born. She was exceptionally dedicated to her family throughout her life. She built an amazing network of friends over the years.

Flo is survived by her children, James (Barbara) Alders, Kathryn Alders, and Douglas Alders with his special friend Mary Cooney; grandchildren, Jenny (Tyler) Smith and Alex Alders; and great-grandchildren, Dashiell and Jasper Smith. She will always be affectionately known as Auntie Pete by her 7 surviving cousins.
