George W. Olson Jr.

George W. Olson Jr., age 87, of North Mankato, died on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. 

George was born on August 19, 1935 in rural Nicollet County to George and Ruth (Peterson) Olson.  He graduated from Mankato High in 1953.  George served in the United States Army from 1953-1956 and was assigned to the Hg. Btry. 85^th MSL. BN.  George was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Pasbrig on February 22, 1958.  He worked at Kato Engineering from 1956-1959 and then worked for Mankato Citizens-Hickory Tech. for many years, retiring in 1997.  George was a volunteer with the North Mankato Fire Department from 1965-1985.  He had a partnership in “the shack” on South Bay Swan Lake in Nicollet County where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

George is survived by his brother, John (Liz) Olson; sister, Carol Larsen; daughter, Beth; grandchildren, Lee (Danielle) Olson, Sierra, and Emily; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; infant daughter, Debra; son, Brian; and sister, Elaine Bindig.
