Gerald "Jay" Brown

Gerald Robert Brown (Jay), 83, of Mankato, MN, passed away on May 23, 2026. 

Jay was born on June 25, 1942 in Mankato, MN to Betty and Jerry Brown. He was the oldest of six Brown children; Steven, Margaret Ann, Timothy, Mary Beth, and Christopher. 

Jay graduated from Mankato High School in 1960. While in school, he became an Eagle Scout and spent summers working at the national scout camp in Philmont, Arizona. 

He served in the Air Force from 1962 until 1966. He then served in the reserves for another 21 years. After his time in the Air Force, he worked in a variety of companies as a purchasing agent. 

Jay loved his Corvettes and his Miata's, enjoyed photography, and was in a local rifle skeet shooting club. 

Although never married, he dearly loved all his nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Brown, his mother Betty (Elizabeth Daley) Brown, and his brother Timothy.

His funeral will be held on Monday, June 1st at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Mankato at 10:00am. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America.
