Gerald "Mick" Baker

Gerald “Mick” Baker, age 86, of Eagle Lake passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday July 25, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday July 24, 2022, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Gerald Michael Baker was born on February 2, 1936 to Harry and Mary (Germscheid) Baker. He was the 11^th child in the family of 12. He grew up on the family farm near Baker’s Bay on Lake Washington. Gerald graduated in 1954 from Loyola High School. In 1957 he met Mary Ann Beccue in that same bay on a blind date. They were married May 7, 1960 and had seven children and resided on a farm in rural Elysian. During that time, Mick was employed as a member of Local 561, as a plumber and crop-farmed and raised cattle while still enjoying many summers on Pickerel Lake in Ottertail County with family.

In 1999, Mick and Mary Ann retired to their new home on 80 acres of prime hunting land on the Ottertail River near Phelps Mill. They enjoyed over 20 years of retirement hunting, fishing, and running a small sharpening business. In 2016, they returned to southern MN to be near family and were currently residing in Eagle Lake.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann; children, Theresa (Bob) Schwartz, Colleen (Jeff) Keough, Maureen (Lionel “Chub”) Sorgatz, Scott (Kathy) Baker, and Sarah (Greg) Lubansky; daughter-in-law, Pam Baker; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and sister, Patricia Roemhildt.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; children, Aaron Baker, and Neil Patrick Baker, and 10 siblings.
