Gina L. Dahl, age 38, of Mankato passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home in Mankato.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with visitation from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Livestream of the service will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Gina was born on February 9, 1988, in Mankato. She joined her older sister Brittany and became a big sister to Molly in 1994.
At the age of 22 months, Gina was diagnosed with viral encephalitis twice in a six-week period that left her with intractable seizures and developmental delays.
Gina attended Franklin elementary for preschool as well as 5Cs and then Hoover Elementary. She graduated from the Life Skills program at Mankato East High School in 2009. After graduation, Gina worked at MRCI until the end of their program in 2020.
Gina loved the outdoors and enjoyed going for walks, biking, boat rides, and long car rides. At the age of 30, Gina and her family celebrated her birthday by taking the Amtrak over the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and spending time at several National Forests and the four corners of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah.
Gina brought so much joy to her family and the staff that worked with her. She was a bright light to many and had a special sparkle about her.
Gina is survived by her parents, Dave and Maggie Dahl; sisters, Brittany Kay, and Molly (Spencer) Calhoun; nephew, Kadin, and niece, Kaia; housemates, Angie, Liz, and Joy; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Gina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Marcella Noland, and Gerald and Adeline Dahl; aunts and uncles, Marion, Ron, Gayle, Maylon, Les, and Delores; cousins, Darrin, Josh, Tom, Dan, and Travis.
In honor of Gina, we are encouraging all guests to wear clothing with bright colors and patterns. Gina would love that!
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the staff at Harry Meyering for caring for Gina over the years and therefore requests that in leu of any plant or flowering gifts, monetary donations, be made directly to Harry Meyering Center in Mankato https://www.harrymeyeringcenter.org/ in remembrance of Gina.
Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead
Just walk beside me and be my friend
