Glenna Loe

Life-long Mankato area resident, Glenna Nadine Loe, died peacefully on May 3, 2022, at Laurel’s Peak Assisted Living, Mankato at the age of 93.

A Christ-centered celebration of Glenna’s life and deep faith will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 304 Monroe Ave, North Mankato. Private interment will be held at Kern’s Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation at St. Paul’s will occur on Monday May 9th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service.  Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Glenna was born March 25th 1929, in Lake Crystal, MN to parents, Glen and Elta (Oachs) Francis.   Glenna married her teenage sweetheart, Charles (Chuck) Loe July 16th 1947.  Glenna and Chuck were blessed with three children, Carol, Daniel, and Susan, who they raised on the family farm. Glenna lived on the farm until she was 90 years old and the farm continues to be a special homestead for her family.

As newlyweds and young parents, Glenna and Chuck worked together growing sweetcorn, strawberries, and tomatoes, supplying local grocery stores. Glenna then fully supported Chuck as he became a professional Auctioneer. Glenna’s role in Loe and Meyer’s Auctions varied from Lunch Wagon helper, to Auction Clerk, to Auction Manager.  She and her group of ladies prepared countless households and estates for upcoming auctions.  Following Chuck’s death in 1978, Glenna and son Dan owned and operated C&C Auctions.  Glenna loved telling stories and sharing countless memories of the “auction days” with family and friends.

Glenna joyfully served others in her neighborhood and through her church.   She shared her faith through word and action.  She could often be found tending to her yard and garden to make it “look better from the road”.  Glenna knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, especially a glass of wine in her favorite rocking chair while birdwatching and enjoying the company of family and friends.

Blessings continued for Glenna throughout her life.  Seventy plus years of friendship with Loren Lindsay bloomed into a late in life romance through dancing and travel.  Glenna and Loren danced and danced, then danced some more!  She treasured each day they spent together.

Glenna was preceded in death by daughter, Susan (1967), husband, Chuck (1978), and daughter-in-law, Janis Loe (1992). She is survived by her two children, daughter, Carol (Will) Baudler of Minneapolis and son, Daniel Loe of N. Mankato; her five granddaughters, Tina (Josh) Lee Kent, Becka (Greg) Lee Bass, Rachel (Jonathan) Baudler Blaseg, Emily (Nathan Toland) Loe, and Sarah (Brady) Hector; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Una (George) Larsen; and special friend, Loren Lindsay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Risen Savior Lutheran School at St. Paul’s Church N. Mankato or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
