Ione M. Geistfeld

Ione M. Geistfeld, age 87 of Mankato, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Memorial Service will be 11:00am Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Ione Marian was born November 4, 1938 in Grand Forks ND to Gunder and Zora (Van Deventer) Sorenson. She was Baptized December 4, 1938, and Confirmed September 10, 1950 both at Bygland Ev. Lutheran in Fisher MN. She attended grades 1-11 in Fisher, but graduated from Bethany Lutheran High, Mankato in 1956. She then earned her associate degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato in 1959. On July 25, 1959 she was united in marriage to Ernest Geistfeld at Trinity Lutheran in Fisher MN. They lived in Luverne where she worked as a nurse aid at the hospital before moving to Mankato. There she worked 15 years as a secretary at Bethany Lutheran College, 4 years as a home health aid, and volunteering for 13 years at New to You, North Mankato. She was a member of the Bethany Auxiliary and enjoyed word searches, playing cards, cooking, baking, music, volunteering and watching the MN Twins. Most importantly, she loved the Lord and spending time with her family.

Left to remember Ione are her husband of 67 years, Ernest; children: Jon (Denise) of Mankato MN, Philip (Karis) of Beverly Hills FL, and Susan (Kenneth) Heidorn of Fergus Falls MN; seven grandchildren: Danielle, Benjamin, Emily, Evan, Stephanie, Noah, and Rachael; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Melvin Moulds; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters: Elaine (William) Bowen and Barbara Moulds.
