James "Jim" George

James Joseph “Jim” George, age 86, of Shakopee, died on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Abbot Northwestern Holmes Heart Hospital.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. The service will be livestreamed and available below.

James Joseph, the son of Edward and Jenny (Abdo) George was born on December 11, 1936 in Mankato. He was a hard worker who enlisted in the U.S. Marines at the age of 18. He served stateside and overseas in Japan for 3 years. Jim was previously employed at Northern Pipeline and Jim Underwood Construction where he operated heavy equipment. After retirement, he worked as a residential painter for many years. Jim enjoyed canning, fishing, gardening, hunting, motorcycling, old cars, and woodworking. He also enjoyed maintaining his home and property.

He is survived by son, Dwaine Henrichs; granddaughters, Sabrina (Devin) Current and Bridgette Henrichs; 9 great grandchildren; nephew, Steven (Rosetta) George; niece, Sherry George; nephew, Jeffrey (Jane) George; sister, Barbara Schmidt; sisters in law, Donna George and Marilyn George; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, twin brother Joseph, and Henry; nephew, Ricky; great nephews, Christopher and Justin; and great niece, Sarah.
