James Lee Morris, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the age of 65 in Eagle Lake, Minnesota. He was born on May 15, 1961, in Mankato, Minnesota to Victor and Mary (Slaymaker) Morris, where he grew up surrounded by the love of his family and the community at Grace Baptist Church.
James spent his early years in Mankato before moving to Waseca where he worked a factory job, and later to Elysian. For the past five years, he called Eagle Lake his home. Throughout his life, James found joy in swimming in Alexandria and Madison Lake, fishing, and sharing laughter with loved ones at family picnics and gatherings at the Holiday Inn.James had a heart of gold, always quick to smile and eager to lift the spirits of those around him. He had a playful spirit and a soft spot for all things Snoopy and Mickey Mouse. His enthusiasm for the Minnesota Vikings was infectious, and he cherished the moments spent with family and friends, particularly during the Christmas season when he could be found sneaking cookies with a grin on his face.
He is survived by his father, Victor Morris of Mankato; siblings, Clark Morris of Mankato, John Morris of Mankato, and Rebecca Morris of Winnebago; niece and nephews, Jordyn Morris, Ryan Morris, Jonathan Breunder, and Kyle Morris; several great neices and nephews; uncle, Charles Slaymaker; and cousins, Dawn, Colleen, and Heather; He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; brother, Michael Morris; and infant sister.
