James Johnson

James Lee Johnson, 78, of Mankato, died July 13, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Sibley Park shelter #3 (by softball fields) in Mankato with visitation from 1:30 until 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be at Sterling Cemetery at a later date. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Jim was born July 22, 1943 to John W. and Doris (Searcy) Johnson in Mankato. He attended school at the Ridge Country School and later Amboy High School. On December 1, 1962, he married Barbara Kazen. Jim farmed his entire life on the family farm in rural Amboy. In his free time, Jim enjoyed all things outdoors. He liked snowmobiling, camping, and water activities, especially on the Mississippi River.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barb; children, Todd (Alexia) Johnson and Margo (Mitchell) Oatman; grandchildren, Taylor (Carter), Adyson, Lauren, Alexander, Eli (Danielle) and Brit; and great grandchildren, Sterling, Estella, Lucian, Ryker, and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
