James Arthur Pfeffer

James A. Pfeffer, age 93 of Mankato, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Memorial service is 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Centenary United Methodist church, Mankato with visitation at 10:30am. Memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, Centenary UMC or a charity of the donor's choice. James Arthur was born December 13th, 1931, in Good Thunder, MN to William and Mary Jane “Jennie” (Weir) Pfeffer. He attended Mapleton High School before joining the US Navy, serving from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was united in marriage to Neva Nobles on October 20th, 1956, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Mapleton. James and Neva made their home in Mankato, where James owned and operated an auto parts store. James enjoyed playing cards, gardening, dancing, MN sports especially the Vikings and Timberwolves, cars and auto racing. He was a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

Left to remember James are his wife, Neva; children: Denise (Glen) Francis of Windom, David (Jennifer) Pfeffer of Mankato, and Gregory (Peggy) Pfeffer of Windom; Grandchildren: Nicole (Bill) Inman of Windom, Melissa (Brandon) Pletcher of Windom, Ryan (Melanie Atmadja) Pfeffer of San Francisco, Alec (Lauren) Pfeffer of Sioux Falls, Andrew (Amanda) Pfeffer of Grimes IA, Jeffrey (Taylor) Pfeffer of Farmington and Eric (Kailey) Pfeffer of Sioux Falls; 11 great grandchildren (with a 12th on the way); and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Mary Loreen, Ruth, John, Gerald, Paul, Charles, and daughter-in-law Colleen (Olson) Pfeffer.
