James W. Vonderharr

James W. Vonderharr, age 82, of Mankato, died on April 26, 2024 at his home.  

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a sharing of memories at 2:30 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.   Memorials are preferred to Living Earth Center, the Many Rivers Chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts, BENCHS, or UUFM.

James was born on August 3, 1941 in Madison, MN to William and Martha (Bauler) Vonderharr.  Jim was a chemist and worked for H.B. Fuller for 36 years.  Jim and Kathryn moved to Mankato in 2001 and absolutely loved living on the prairie.  In retirement, Jim enjoyed working at the St. Peter Food Co-op. He volunteered at Living Earth Center and The Prairie Enthusiasts. Jim was a conservationist and took pride in the environment and being ecofriendly.  Jim loved cooking, bread baking, and woodworking.  

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathryn; niece, Jennifer and her husband, Greg and their daughter, Haley (Kevin); three brothers, Edwin (Sue), Stanley, and Kenneth (Kathy); nephews; his beloved animal companions; and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathi and parents.
