Janet Lynn Massop

Janet “Jan” Lynn Massop, age 57, of Mapleton, died Thursday, June 29, 2023 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank surrounded by her family.

Janet was born April 21, 1966 in Mankato to Richard and Catherine (Schimek) Reynolds. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1984. Janet married David Massop on August 1, 1986 at St. Teresa’s church in Mapleton and they were blessed with three daughters. In her free time, Jan enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, watching movies, playing cards, thrift shopping, and cooking. Jan was a jack-of-all-trades and owned her own business with her daughter. She also worked as a waitress, CNA, and worked hard on their farm. Above all, Jan treasured spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Massop of Mapleton; daughters, Brooke (Justin) Bisted of Duluth, Mackenzie Massop of Mapleton, and Alexis Massop of North Mankato; her like children Brandon Reynolds of Mapleton, Heather (Travis) Truebenbach of Mapleton;  grandchildren, Zoey, McKenna, Callen, Jace, and Kaden; mother, Cathy Reynolds of Mapleton; and siblings, Cindy (Kevin Wingen) Duncanson of Winnebago, Mike (Linda) Reynolds of Delavan, Kristine (Paul) Sellers of Mapleton, and Jeff (Jen) Reynolds of Mapleton. 

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Richard Reynolds; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Mary Kay Massop; baby sister, Anne; maternal grandparents, Louie and Marcella Schimek; and paternal grandparents, Delmer and Elsie Reynolds. 

Celebration of Jan’s life will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Daly Park second pavilion outside of Mapleton.
