Janet Pitts

Janet Pitts, age 76, of Judson, died on January 14, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus, Rochester.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Cambria Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment at the Cambria Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Janet Louise, the daughter of John and Mildred (Johnson) Thomas, was born on November 28, 1946 in Mankato. She graduated from New Ulm High School. She was united in marriage to Marlan Pitts on July 11, 1970 at the Cambria Presbyterian Church. She was previously employed at the Mankato Free Press, Harry Meyering Center for over 20 years, and Mankato East High School as a paraprofessional. Janet was a member of the German Club in Mankato and Cambria Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, traveling, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Janelle) Pitts, Corey Tuma, Jessica Pitts, and Derek Peterson; grandchildren, Thomas Pitts, Sydney Shelton, Caleb Shelton, and Evelyn Pitts; sisters, Patricia (Butch) Mansson, Linda Thomas, and Sheila Frieske; and sisters in law, Demaris Frederickson and Ngaire Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlan in 2020; two infant sons, Todd and Benjamin; brothers in law, John Frieske, Maynard Pitts; Louis Pitts, and Daryl Pitts; and sisters in law, Ardella Bell and Sharon Pierce.
