Jay Christopher Mooney, age 59, of Mankato, MN died on June 19, 2026. 

A memorial service at 1 p.m. will be held at Mankato Mortuary on Friday, July 3, 2026 with a visitation 1 hour prior. 

Jay was born on July 13, 1966 to Michael and Candace Harder in Mankato, MN. He lived in Tennessee and California before returning to Mankato, MN. Jay loved video games and music, especially rock and roll, and went to many, many concerts. Jay appreciated breakfast at the Happy Chef with his siblings, but most importantly, he loved family gatherings. Jay was without a doubt, most proud of his children and grandchildren.

Jay lived his life to the fullest as a strong, kind-hearted man, and great listener. He was intelligent, patient, and had a sense of humor. Jay knew how to make people feel important because he tried to be one of the least judgmental people alive, who truly cared about others.

Jay is lovingly remembered and adored by his children, Jeremiah (Rose) Mooney of Mankato, Savannah Mooney (Jacob Ewing) of Chaska; parents, Michael (Beth) Mooney of Eden Prairie, and Candace Childs of North Mankato; siblings, Todd (Carmen) Mooney of North Mankato, Kelly Mooney of North Mankato; the love of his life, Andrea Rosati of Mankato; grandchildren, Auhbree, Violet, River, Alice, Charlie, and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Jamie Mooney; paternal grandparents, Patrick and Maxine Mooney; maternal grandparents Bill and Georgia Harder.
