Jeanette Dawn Koberg

Jeanette Dawn Koberg, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in North Mankato on September 19, 2026. She was born on July 11, 1942, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Earl and Hope (Schwandt) Bromeling.

Jeannette was a daycare provider in her home for countless children for many years, who gave her the nickname Nanny.

Jeanette married Jerome Koberg on May 27, 1988. They were blessed with 33 years of marriage. Together, they created a home that was much more than a place to live. They provided a caring home for their adult foster care. Jeanette and Jerome took pride in caring for others and making everyone feel welcome. Over the years, their home became a place filled with laughter and countless memories.

Jeanette was a faithful member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She found joy in decorating, shopping, and music. She had a special love for all animals, especially her little dogs and canary. They held a special place in her heart. More than anything, Jeanette cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Jeanette had a way of bringing warmth and joy, and leaving a little sparkle everywhere she went. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her welcoming spirit, and the special way she made people feel.

Jeanette is survived by her five children from her previous marriage to Howard Schendel: Robin (Bernadette) Schendel, Blake Schendel, Dane (Maria) Schendel, Adam (Rebecca) Schendel, and Leah (Craig) Ogden; children acquired through marriage to Jerome, LaJoy Fischer, Brenda Zimmerman (Brian), Jim (Jody) Koberg, Shawn (Kathy Osborne) Drill, Kim (Lee) Thompson, Kayla (Wade Deming) Koble, Donita (Paul) Platz, Ray (Kristy) Koberg. Brother, Myles (Marcene) Bromeling; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Lee) Heinrichs; 41 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren (1 on the way); and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends, all who will miss her dearly.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerome Koberg; granddaughter, Ashley Schendel; and sister-in-law, Vera Ward.

A funeral service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 9am. Burial at Janesville Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Mankato Clinic, staff at St. Croix Hospice, and the pastors at Mount Olive. They brought great comfort and care to Jeanette and her family.
