Jeanette Schull, age 87, of Mankato passed away Monday, April 13, 2026.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato at 11:00am. The visitation starts at 9:30am. A family burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Jeanette Joyce Schull was born on April 25, 1938 in Wells, MN to William and Alma (Grunzke) Bathke. She grew up on a farm and was active in 4-H Club, baking food to show at the county fair. Jeanette attended school in Waldorf and graduated from Waldorf High School in 1956. She then enrolled at Mankato State University in the nursing program and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1960.
Jeanette married Armin Schull at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton on December 17, 1960, and together they joined Christ the King in Mankato where they made their home. She has been an active member at Christ the King, helping teach Sunday School and Bible School. Jeanette was employed at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital for several years, and when their first child was born, she worked part time at Mankato Clinic emergency department.
Armin & Jeanette were blessed with four children: Todd, Troy, Trent, and Tami. With a busy and growing family, Jeanette was a “stay at home mom” so she could taxi the children to their many school activities and be available to volunteer in school as needed. She volunteered with hearing and vision tests in school, helped with the blood mobile, and blood pressure clinics. She also joined the Sweet Adelines Chorus and enjoyed singing for various occasions. When their youngest child was in grade school, Jeanette had the opportunity to be employed at Golden Heart Day Care Center in Mankato. She dearly loved caring for the infants, giving them love and care like a ‘Grandma.’ She retired after twenty-five years.
In retirement she enjoyed walking, bridge groups, movies and lunch with her friends, exercise, coffee times (almost every day), attending all the grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s school activities (music, concerts, sports, dance shows), but most of all enjoying family times every year at a resort near Crosslake. The most memorable memory was when Jeanette & Armin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all the family spending a week in Cancun, Mexico.
Jeanette is survived by husband Armin; children: Todd (Brenda) Schull, Troy (Cindy) Schull, Trent (Ann) Schull, and Tami (Cal) Huntley; nine grandchildren: Courtney (Cody) Seaberg, Nathan (Alexandra) Schull, Hayden Schull, Cullen Schull, Alex Schull, Annika Schull, Jack Schull, Taylor Huntley, and Cade Huntley; and 3 great-grandchildren: Peyton and Harper Seaberg, and Luca Schull; Sisters: Carollee Blank, Connie (Al) Tesch, Russell (Rita) Bathke.
Jeanette was preceded in death by parents William and Alma Bathke, brother Harold Bathke (in infancy), sister Marilyn Stewart, brothers-in-law Victor Stewart and Lowell Blank, Gerald Groskreutz, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to Vine, Christ the King Lutheran Church, and St. Jude’s Research hospital.
