Joan H. Holsen

Joan H. Holsen, age 93, of Mankato, died Monday, September 27, 2021 at Pathstone Living, Mankato.

Funeral Service 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN. Visitation will be one hour before service on Friday. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.

Joan was born April 14, 1928 to Edmund and Helena (Smith) Thomas in Hanlontown, Iowa. She graduated from Trimont High School, where she was a cheerleader and band member. Joan was united in marriage to Melvin C. Topp on May 4, 1947. He died October 14, 1980. She later married John I. Holsen on May 5, 1985. He died on October 24, 2012. Joan was a homemaker for her family, cooking, gardening, and sewing. Her family was her life. Joan enjoyed playing bridge, neighborhood coffee parties, and dancing with Melvin at the Kato Ballroom.

Joan is survived by her three children, Raymond (Rita) Topp of Sedona, AZ, Norma (Aleks) Klidzejs of Hayward, WI, and Marvin (Sue) Topp of Eagle Lake; three grandchildren, Andy (Amy) Topp, Thomas Klidzejs, and Jenni Topp; three great-grandchildren, Henry, Evan, and Charlie; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; sister, Lorraine Pond; brother, Lloyd Thomas.
