Joan Celeste Krummel, 89 of Mankato passed away April 18, 2021 at Mayo Health System-Mankato.

 

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday April 22, 2021 at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m., at the cemetery on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

 

Joan was born September 2, 1931 in Nicollet County to Ernest and Glade (Ives) Grundemeier.  She graduated from Mankato High School in 1949.  She married Harlan Krummel July 4, 1950 in Mankato.  Joan’s faith was a deeply important part of her life.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mankato until its closure and Centenary UMC.  She spent 50 years working with the church children and served in various women’s groups and attended bible studies.  She enjoyed gardening, reading and writing poetry.

 

She worked as a special Ed Aide in District 77, Carlson Craft home pasting and taking care of nieces and nephews whenever she could.

 

Joan is survived by son Charles (Candy) Krummel-Lakeland FL, Jane Krummel-Mankato; grandchildren:  Gina Fisher, Lisa Morgan, Jeff  Krummel, Johnny Rodgers, Jay Rodgers, and James Rodgers; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Judith Grundemeier-Katy TX, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan in 1999, son Scott in 2020, brothers Winston and Alan.  A life well lived.
