John Patrick Redig, age 65, of Mankato, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living, North Mankato.

Private celebration of life will be held for the family. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. The celebration of life service will be livestreamed and available on John’s obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.

John was born in Wells, MN on March 17, 1956 to Francis and Rose (Huebl) Redig. He attended Wells-Easton schools. John worked through MRCI Rehabilitation Center, which placed John at several companies within the Mankato area. He loved to travel and visited many places with his siblings as well as being chaperoned by LEEP including Rome, Bahamas, Cozumel, Mexico, Hawaii, California, Mazatlán, and Acapulco, Mexico. John enjoyed evenings with his friends at Hooligans.

John was a very humble, loving person and knew he was loved as a child of God. He was a great example of showing God’s love with his genuine kindness toward others. Our conversations always ended by him saying he loved us all. Throughout his short battle with lung cancer, he never complained and was always so thankful for his caregivers at Oak Terrace and most importantly, his sister, Sharon, who has been his solid rock through life. Even though John led a simple lifestyle, he taught us more in these last couple of months than many learn in a lifetime. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by siblings, Carol Olson (and friend, Danny), Rich (Georgine Le Beau) Redig, Joe (Jean) Redig, Mary (Mike) Meyer, Mar (Dave) McDonough, Andrew Redig, Jerry (Tamra) Redig, Tom (Linda) Redig, Gene (Tracy) Redig, Sharon (Steve) Lenz, Kathy (Steve) Kauffmann, and Rita (Todd) Grunzke; aunt, Sr. Regine Marie Redig (Aunt Gina); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Rose Redig; and nephew, Conor Redig.
