Joseph “Joe” Wayne Gasner, age 63, of Madelia, MN, passed away surrounded by his family on April 23, 2026, in New Ulm, MN.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, New Ulm. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 27, at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, MN.
Joe was born December 20, 1962, in New Ulm, MN to Frank and Hazel (Mayberry) Gasner. Joe graduated in 1981 from the New Ulm Christian School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1983, where he served for 6 years.
Joe married his high school sweetheart, Laurie Goodburn on June 20, 1984. They had two sons, David and Michael.
Joe worked in IT at Taylor Corporation for over 30 years.
Joe enjoyed working on projects and would say he was the jack of all trades and master of none. He wasn’t afraid to try new projects and was always working on something. He especially enjoyed fixing damaged cars and more recently grilling and smoking meat. Joe loved his family and cherished being a Grandpa. Joe was saved and baptized as a child through the ministry of First Baptist Church in New Ulm and was a faithful member until his Lord took him home.
Joe is survived by his wife, Laurie; sons, David (Dana) Gasner and Michael (Lindsay) Gasner; grandchildren, Lizzie, Allie, and Maddie; mother, Hazel Gasner; sister, Mitzi Roberts; brother, Jay Gasner; mother-in-law, Ardis Goodburn; in-laws, Jim Goodburn and John (Beth) Goodburn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Frank; brothers, David Roberts, Jon Gasner, and James Gasner; sisters, Donna Martin and Jean Bjornberg; nephews, Thomas Roberts; brother-in-law, Al Martin; and father-in-law, David Goodburn.
