Judith Katherine Balk

Judith Katherine Balk, 77, Mankato, passed away November 22, 2025.

Judy was born to Hugo and Agnes (Miller) on March 25, 1948 in Mankato, MN. She attended Owatonna State School and after her mother’s death, moved to Norhaven Home for Women in St. Paul. She moved back to Mankato in 1987 and started working at Mankato Rehabilitation Center, later retiring into the EASE Program there.

Judy was an avid knitter, enjoyed embroidery, bingo, solitaire and playing her electronic hand-held games. She had a quick wit and was a precious gift to us. She will be missed.

Judy is survived by her stepmother, Donna Hlavac; siblings, Dan (Becky) Balk, Sue (Larry) Gilster, Mary (Roger) Hale, Hugo Balk, Jr., Cyndy (Joe) Butler, Kristine Bidwell, Tess (Pat) Moran, Jeff Krueger, and Rick (Rowann) Pepper; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1966; her dad in 2006; brother, Michael in 2013; brother, Paul Krueger in 2023; and brother, Peter in 2025.

Visitation will be held at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Dr.) on December 6, 2025 from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Family requests no flowers or plants - Memorials are preferred to MRCI EASE Program, 1750 Energy Drive, Mankato, MN 56001.
