Judith Friesen, age 80, of Mankato, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2025, at Cottagewood Senior Living in Mankato, MN.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Madelia. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before the memorial service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, at a later date.
Judith was born on December 9, 1944, in Madelia to Vincent and Evelyn (Chase) Swanson. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1962. On April 25, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to Wayne Friesen at First Baptist Church in Madelia. Judy worked in several positions in appraisal and property assessment, culminating in her career as the Brown County Assessor, a role she began in 1995 and held until her retirement in 2014. She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church, where she was actively involved in serving and singing at the church. Judy enjoyed quilting, gardening, and camping. She loved the outdoors and sitting on her deck. She will always be remembered for her gentle sweetness, infectious smile, and a presence that could light up a room.
Judy is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Gary (Vickie) Friesen, Tim (Cathi) Friesen, Chris (Rachelle) Friesen, and Cindy Friesen; grandchildren, Nicholas Friesen, Ashley Nesvold, Ryan Friesen, Whitney Friesen, Thomas and Matthew Friesen, and Evelynne and Jacob Larson; two great-grandchildren, Zander Zaldana and Amelia Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patsy Swanson.
