June Edith Borseth, age 89, of Mankato, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 after a brief illness.
June was born June 14, 1935 in Christiana Township to Oscar and Malinda (Holmen) Flatgard. After graduating from Windom High School, she spent a year at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD before returning home to work at a local bank in Windom. On August 3, 1957, June was united in marriage to James Borseth. As newlyweds, they lived in London until 1959 while he served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to the US, June and Jim resided in the Twin Cities until relocating to Mankato in 1967. In 1975, June and Jim and their family moved to LeSueur, MN where they owned and operated a hardware store and they later relocated to Austin, MN for a brief period before returning to Mankato in 1981. June’s greatest joy was being a homemaker and raising her three children. She was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She loved singing in the choir as well as helping the funeral committee. June was also a longtime member of P.E.O. As a member of the Mankato Golf Club, June golfed until she was 88. She also enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong, reading, watching golf, and spending time with her family and friends, who were her heart and soul.
June is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Borseth; son, Mark (Sherry) Borseth of Queen Creek, AZ and their children, Matt, Andy, and Ashley; daughter, Sue (Brian) Erickson of Edina and their children, Steven (Stella) and Lauren (Peter) Truwit; son, Paul (Stacy) Borseth of State College, PA and their son, Blake; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Brenda Flatgard of Windom; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Stanley, Oneil, Robert, Roger, and David.
Funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, June 16, 2025 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials be directed to Christ the King Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
