Karen Faye (Wacholz) Courrier was born on June 6, 1939, to William and Erma Wacholz in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Mansfield Lutheran Church. She passed away peacefully in her home on November 6, 2025.
She graduated from Kiester High School in 1957. She earned her BS degree in Education from Mankato State College. She taught Home Economics at both Windom and Alden, Minnesota high schools.
She married LaMar A. Courrier on August 4, 1961. While living in Alden, all three of their children were born. They moved to Deer River, Minnesota in 1969 where LaMar taught at the high school and Karen eventually worked at the Deer River Clinic. They both retired in 1996. She moved to Mankato, Minnesota in August of 2022.
She is preceded in death by her husband, LaMar; her parents, William and Erma Wacholz; her father and mother-in-law, Wilbert and Ruby Courrier; brother, Marlin Wacholz; sister-in-law, Betty Wacholz; and granddaughters, Haley Linn Courrier and Allison Courrier Reed.
Karen is survived by her children, Chad (Robin) Courrier, Nan (Stephen) Marlette, and Sue (Bob) Reed; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Kalyn) Marlette, Maddison (Bart) Jongejans, Hannah (Kendon) Bland, Matthew (Mariah-Joy) Marlette, Jenna Courrier, David Marlette, Cole Reed, and Jonathan Marlette; great-grandchildren, Miles and Celeste Marlette and Timothy and Theodore Jongejans; brothers, Leon (Linda) Wacholz, Dale (Carolyn) Wacholz; brothers-in-law, Gary (Dorothy) Courrier, Gus (Julie) Courrier; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
A Service will also be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset, MN at a day and time to be announced.
