It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen K. Fischer, 80, of Waterville, MN, who left this world on May 6, 2025 after a battle against lung cancer. Karen was born on March 18, 1945, in Waseca, MN to Kenneth and Marian (Fox) Hoehn.
Karen attended grade school at All Saints, where she met Duane, and high school at Good Counsel. She had six younger brothers and sisters. After high school, Duane met up with her at Paddlefish Days and asked her out. She worked in Minneapolis as a secretary. After Karen and Duane married in 1966, she began working at Mankato College. In 1984, Fischer and Hoehn Electric was founded, followed by Mankato Mini Storage, for which she did bookwork.
A lover of beauty in all forms, Karen found joy in flower gardening, reading books, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Some of her greatest joys came from her grandchildren and beautiful sunsets over the lake. Though she has left this world, her love will continue to bloom in every flower, shine in every sunset, and echo in the laughter of those she held dear.
She is survived by her beloved husband Duane, two children Dawn (Mike) Johnson of Titusville, FL, and Damon Fischer of Eden Prairie, MN; four grandchildren Cassie (Marc) Leighton of Titusville, FL, Rachael (Ian) Rowan of Titusville, Kendra and Chloe Fischer of Eden Prairie, MN; 5 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Journi, and Noah (Cassie and Marc) and Mavenick and Zaylen (Rachael and Ian) who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Marian Hoehn, and grandson Nick Johnson.
A visitation will be held at Mankato Mortuary on Riverfront Drive on Friday, May 9th from 4-7 pm, where all who knew and loved her are welcome to share their memories.
