Kent Stephen Durenberger, age 73, of North Mankato, died Sunday, February 27, 2022, at MCHS – Mankato.
Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and one hour before service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to VINE, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, or the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

Kent was born January 28, 1949, the 3rd of 7 children to Ralph J. and Mildred M. (Bundy) Durenberger in Mankato. He attended Mankato High School until the age of 16 when he started his apprenticeship as a pipefitter with Local 561. He was a regular customer at the Country Kitchen where he was able to charm a waitress with his quick wit. On October 9, 1971, Kent and Marilyn Hindt were united in marriage at the Newman Center in Mankato. In October of 1978, Kent and Marilyn started Mid-States Mechanical Services Inc. with one truck and a handful of tools he got from his Dad. In the 1990s his children joined the business. Thanks to their invaluable employees, they have served the industrial piping and insulation sector throughout the U.S. with current offices in Mankato and Joplin, Missouri. He was a charter member of the Maverick Hockey Blue Line Club. In recent years he enjoyed not only home games but traveling with family to many away games. Kent spent many years devoted to building and riding his recumbent bicycles. He also found great joy volunteering as a driver for VINE.
Kent is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn of North Mankato; two children, Danielle (Casey) Stedman and Kevin Durenberger all of Mankato; three grandchildren, Curran, Brody, and Ava; Ava’s mother, Paige Durenberger of Mankato; five siblings, David Durenberger, Paul (Katherine) Durenberger all of Mankato, Louis (Jill) Durenberger of Wayzata, Neil Durenberger of St. Peter, and Randy (Mimi) Durenberger of Lancaster, PA; numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. . Kent was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Chantler and her husband, Gary Chantler.
