Kim was born on March 31, 1960, to Ralph and Shirley (Ulschmid) Rader in Mankato. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in 1978 and was united in marriage to Cletus “Clete” Frederick, Jr. on June 16, 1978, in Mankato.

Throughout her life, Kim answered to many names; Mom, Nana, Momma Kim, Aunt Kim, and even “Rental Mom” - each one a reflection of the love she gave so freely.

Kim’s heart was bigger than most, and she made everyone feel welcome. She loved gathering people together, and her dinner table was always open. She loved having a good time, enjoyed life, and sharing a good belly laugh. Her laughter - full, joyful, and unmistakable - filled every room she was in and was wonderfully infectious.

Kim worked in many roles throughout her life, including running a home daycare, serving as Manager of Customer Service at Scheel’s All Sports, Manager of G&M Jewelry in Le Center, receptionist at the Mankato Civic Center, and spending 18 years with Taylor Corporation.

She was deeply involved in her community and took pride in giving back. Kim served for many years as Chairperson of the Eagle Lake Tator Days Committee and was honored to be Grand Marshal of the Tater Days Parade alongside Clete in 2007. She was also a devoted member of the Eagle Lake American Legion Auxiliary for 45 years.

Kim loved making memories—camping at Sportsman Campground in Janesville, spending time at family cabins on Duck Lake, and traveling to visit loved ones in Frazee and Duluth, Minnesota, and Kansas City, Missouri. She especially cherished her trips to Cancun, where she first saw the ocean, as well as adventures to the Dominican Republic, Florida, Cabo San Lucas, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.

Kim and Clete proudly considered themselves “groupies” of the bands Small Change and Jam Boyz, along with other bands featuring those musicians. She also enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, creating stained glass pieces, listening to live music, spending time with her family, and most of all, spoiling her beloved granddaughter.

Kim is survived by her husband, Clete; three daughters, Monica Frederick of Kansas City, MO; Cari (Landon) Hoffbeck of Prior Lake, MN, and Crista (Clinton Gaither) Frederick of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Haley Hoffbeck; aunt, Elizabeth (Don) High; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clem Frederick, Barb Hoffman, Rose Mary (Darryl) Hoffman, Linda Franke (special friend, Jim Rossow), Larry (Barb) Frederick, Virginia (Chuck) Flitter, Nick (Linda) Frederick, Andy (Marilyn) Frederick, Mary Kay (Len) Carpenter, Ralph (Nan) Frederick, Linnette (Pat) Anderson, Philip Frederick (special friend, Kathy Bouley), Darlene (Jim) Dauk; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Shirley Rader; parents-in-law, Cletus and Valeria Frederick; brothers-in-law, Claver, David, and Danny Frederick; Jim Hoffman and Willie Franke.
