Kimberly S. Teig

February 20, 1961 — March 31, 2026

North Mankato

Kimberly (Kim) Teig of North Mankato, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 65, after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Kim was born in Fairmont, Minnesota on February 20, 1961, the third child of Doris and Robert Gerhardt. She attended Welcome Schools in Welcome, Minnesota, and South Central College in North Mankato, Minnesota. She worked as a dedicated sales associate during her decades-long career.

Kim married Greg Teig in 1986 and they enjoyed 40 years together.

Kim loved her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, hosting and organizing family events and gatherings. Kim also loved to watch and cheer on her children and grandchildren at any sporting event and activity.

Kim was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished daughter, sister, aunt, relative, and friend. She was known for her kindness and tireless work ethic—always the first to show up when someone needed help. No gathering was complete without her frosted sugar cookies, carrot bars, or what many considered the best banana bread ever. Kim had a gift for organization and cleaning, somehow able to remove even the toughest stains from a hockey uniform.

To many, Kim was like a “second mother,” offering care, guidance, and unwavering support. She consistently put the needs of others before her own. Even during her cancer journey, she and Greg continued to share their generosity, baking and delivering pies to others.

More than any accomplishment, she wished to be known as a loving mother and grandmother – and through her endless love and care, she truly was.

Kim is preceded in death by father Robert Gerhardt, father-in-law Richard Teig, mother-in-law Marge Teig and brother-in-law Dan Whitman.

She is survived by her husband Greg, her two children Kristen (Jake) Mallak and Ryan (Kiley) Teig and her four beloved grandchildren Carter, Taylor, Cooper and Mackenzie. She is also survived by her mother Doris; her four siblings Mike (Ronda) Gerhardt, Terry Whitman, Todd (Diane) Gerhardt and Doug (Tami) Gerhardt; and many other relatives and friends.

Kim will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, Minnesota on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm. A burial will be held at a later date. Memorials can be directed to the End of Life Doula Collaborative at www.eoldc.org.

Kim’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato Hospital for the tender care she received during her final days.
