Laurie Louise Bickett

Laurie Louise Bickett, age 69, of North Mankato, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home.

Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Northview. Laurie was born August 10, 1951 in Des Moines, IA to Harry Carl and Ellen Theresa (Andersen) Jensen. After graduating from Des Moines North High School in 1969, Laurie attended Grand View College and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Iowa. She worked as a special education teacher, then later stayed home to raise her three children. Laurie later earned her master’s degree in education from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She was employed as a Disabilities Services Coordinator at Gustavus Adolphus College for more than a decade and was able to advocate for students and coordinate appropriate educational resources.

Laurie was creative and found joy in drawing and painting, a passion also shared by her daughter. She also enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and was a devoted animal lover. She was a talented singer and was active with the Toledo Symphony Choral and Minnesota Valley Choir. She had a friendly, approachable demeanor and a very outgoing personality.

Those left to cherish Laurie’s memory include her children, Keith Bickett of Burnsville, Todd (Erin) Bickett of Maple Grove, and Miranda (Dillon) Balbach of Springfield; grandchildren, Aiden and Adley Bickett and Skylar Balbach; sisters, Carol Bamford and Karma (Mike) Remster; and her uncle and aunt, Vernon
