Lawrence "Larry" Bolhuis

Lawrence “Larry” Sabo Bolhuis, age 69, of Mankato, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 7, 2020 with his loving wife by his side.

Larry was born July 3, 1951 in Waterloo, IA to Lawrence and Leora (Bellmer) Bolhuis. He attended school in Waterloo and Cedar Falls before moving to Mankato with his family in 1968. Larry graduated from Mankato High School in 1970 and from Mankato Area Vocational Technical School in 1972 with a degree in Machine Shop. He was self-employed for many years, and then worked for several area companies as a truck driver and mechanic, retiring from Card Fulfillment Services as technical maintenance in 2013.

Larry married Dawn C. Wilmes in May 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. He enjoyed cooking, driving short day trips with Dawn, and maintaining anything that needed repairing. He was generous, thoughtful, and considerate of others. Larry will be truly missed by those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Bolhuis of Mankato; siblings, Beverly (Jerry) Dick, Rebecca Deutsch, and Dawn (Wayne) Heilman; brother-in-law, Brad Wilmes; sister-in-law, Lynnette (Tom) Vogel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Merle and Mark Wilmes.
