Leon Gerard Depuydt

Leon Gerard Depuydt, age 61, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home in rural Eagle Lake.

Leon was born April 4, 1959 in Mankato as the seventh child to Leonard and Lucille (Veroeven) Depuydt. He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1977. Leon married Roxanne Haust on June 1, 1985 in Faribault and they settled in rural Eagle Lake where they raised four daughters. Leon started his own company in 1988, Leon’s Custom Backhoe, Inc.

Leon had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and hanging out with family. The highlight of every summer was attending local parades and county fairs.

Leon is survived by his daughters, Mina Sargent (fiancé Jared Harris), Ann Depuydt, Hailey (Matt) Hoppe, and Faith (Lucas) Tetrick; their mother, Roxie Haust; grandchildren, Glen Sargent, August Tetrick, and Eleanor Tetrick; his siblings, Donna Klinkner, Tom (Diane) Depuydt, Jerry (Kathy) Depuydt, Deb (Dave) Huhn, Marie (Mark) Meyer, Mark (Teresa) Depuydt, Dean (Rachel) Depuydt, Kevin (Gayle) Depuydt, Frank Depuydt; sister-in-law, Connie Depuydt; and his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Depuydt; brother-in-law, Steve Klinkner; and niece, Barbara Jean Depuydt.
