There will be a private family graveside service at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato for Leona J. Hager, age 98, who passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2026 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living of North Mankato.
Leona was born on February 2, 1928 to Luther and Jennie (Diemer) Halos in Butterfield, MN. She graduated from Butterfield High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College. Leona was united in marriage to Donald Hager. She was an elementary school teacher until her children were born and raised her four children, Kathleen, Mary, William, and Jeanette. Leona lived all of her life in Mankato and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She was an artistic woman who enjoyed knitting and restoring furniture. Leona was compassionate, caring, generous, supportive, and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
Leona is survived by her children, Kathleen (Ray) Packham of Palm Harbor, FL, Mary (Terry) Kahl of Palm Harbor, FL, William (Nancy) Hager of Cedar, MN, and Jeanette Hager of Shakopee, MN; brother, William (Aileen) Halos; grandchildren, Rocky (Jen), Stacia, Angela (Paul), Cassandra, Isaiah (Amanda), and Samuel (Hunter); great grandchildren, Christopher, Avery, Mason, Wyatt, Ezra, Cora, Luca, and Anya; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and spouse, Donald in 2010.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Oak Terrace Assisted Living and the staff at Prairie Grace Hospice for all of their care and support.
