Leora Darlene Cole

Leora D. Cole, age 91, of rural North Mankato for many years, went to heaven on August 3, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cole homestead from 3:00-6:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Leora was born on June 29, 1931, in Windom, Minnesota to Rudolph and Grace Sell. On April 17, 1955 Leora married Eugene Cole. Leora and Gene resided by the Rapidan Dam then later moved to the Cole homestead in rural North Mankato. While in Rapidan, Leora was very active at Calvary Lutheran Church, in Rapidan, teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed working at the nursing home and doing home health care.

Leora enjoyed crafts such as: embroidery, knitting, sewing clothes for her children with her sister-in-law, Judy, and watching her flower garden grow and bloom.

Some other activities she enjoyed was snowmobiling, bowling, card games, and finding a book out there that she hadn’t read before. She also enjoyed baking and canning. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Leora is survived by her children, Diane (Duane) Severtson, Rhonda (Richard) Hollerich, Sherry Cole, Marshall (Jackie) Cole and Michele Cole (Larry Shaunce); 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Robbie) Hoechst, Amber Severtson, Jessica (Rick) Brockberg, Katie Hollerich (Casey Whipperling), Jason Hollerich, Dustin Pomplun (Rosi Back), Caleb (Jessica) Murphy, Holly (Josh) Whitney, Emma Cole, and Grace Cole; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Potter; brother, LaVerne (Marilyn) Sell; sister-in-law, Rita Sell, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; parents; brother, Orvis Sell, and sisters, Irene Wahl, and Joan Engler.
