Lester Schneider

Lester John Schneider, 78, of Mankato, died January 27, 2022, at Water’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Dr., in Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuarty.com.

Les was born January 31, 1943 to Lester and Lorraine (Kunst) Schneider in Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1961 and continued his education at Mankato State University receiving both a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts and a Master’s degree in Counseling. He married Phyllis Biehn on Feb 8, 1964 and together they raised four children, Christine, Dana, Dale, and Todd.

Most of Les’s employment included working as an administrator at South Central Technical College from 1971 until his retirement in 1999.  After retirement he continued working PT as a maintenance coordinator for Sunrise Cottages for 13 years.  Les was a very handy person, everything in the house was always in great looking and working condition, and you couldn’t have asked for a better husband or father. He had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up a room!  His hobbies included, trips to the casino, walleye or pan fishing from his boat and often putting his carpentry skills to work building or refinishing something made of wood.

Les is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Christine Schneider, Dana Schneider, and Todd Schneider; grandchildren, Jordan and Ava Schneider; daughter-in-law, Jamie Schneider; brother, Larry Schneider; and niece, Megan Schneider.

Les was preceded in death by his parents and son, Dale.
