Liana Ilene Michels

Liana Ilene Michels, age 33, of North Mankato, a bright light in the lives of so many, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2025 surrounded by family and love.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Please join us in celebrating her life at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Livestream of the service will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com. Dress colorfully, share stories, and come with love in your heart. For Scripture reminds us in Romans 14:8: "For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's."

Liana was born in Mankato, MN on March 19, 1992 to Robert and Jeneine Michels. Liana’s closest friendships in life were with her four siblings, Jerrid, Alissa, Melanie and Kayla, and longtime boyfriend, Jared Turner.

Liana was baptized on March 29, 1992, and confirmed on May 7, 2006 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato, MN. She graduated from Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm in 2010 and received her Associates Degree of Veterinary Technology in 2013 from Ridgewater College in Willmar. Her strong work ethic and ability to befriend all people spoke volumes to her character while being employed at Taylor Corp, Lantz Farm Enterprises, and most recently, as a Quality Inspector at Alumacraft in Saint Peter.

Liana lived a life of kindness and love, with a passion for creativity and learning new hobbies. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her siblings and nephews, caring for animals, being an unpublished author, gardening, cooking and baking, sewing and playing board games, playing flute and singing in the church choir, and spending time at her parents’ farm.

Liana is survived by her parents, Robert and Jeneine Michels; brother, Jerrid (Danae) and their son, Westley; sisters, Alissa Brixius (fiancé, Kevin) and sons, John and James, and Melanie (Adam) Aschenbrenner and their sons, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Kayla (Taylor) Shay; longtime boyfriend, Jared Turner as well as many other family members and friends.
