Good Thunder

Loren A. Sohre, age 76 of Good Thunder, a beloved husband, father, and cherished friend passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Loren was born in Mankato on May 12, 1949 to LeRoy and Arladene (Kleinbeck) Sohre. He graduated from Good Thunder High School and was drafted into the US Army on February 5, 1969, serving in the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge, November 6, 1970. Loren returned home and was united in marriage to Diane M. Behnke at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family, and were blessed with three children: Michael, Matthew, and Melissa.

Loren found great joy in fishing at the lake during the summer months and cherished the friendships he made while wintering in Texas. Above all, he deeply valued the time spent with family. He took immense pride in watching his children and later his grandchildren, participate in sports and other activities. Loren dedicated his life to farming, a calling he loved, especially the time spent in the tractor and working alongside family. His legacy will live on through generations to come. He was also an active member of his community, serving on the council at St. John Lutheran Church and as a devoted member of the American Legion Post 616, where he proudly served as Commander for many years.

Loren is survived by his wife, Diane; children: Michael Sohre, Matthew (Kelly) Sohre, and Melissa (Colby) Winkler; grandchildren: Hannah (Joshua) Frerichs, Brandon (Sydney) Sohre, Mason Sohre, Grace Sohre, Allie Lyons, Landon Sohre, Ethan Sohre, Tanner Winkler, Hunter Winkler, and Madison Winkler; great-grandchild: Suede Sohre; siblings, Sandra Kantack, Dean (Laureen) Sohre, and Lynn Sohre.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Dale Sohre; uncle, Arlan Kleinbeck; brother-in-law, Howard Kantack.
