Louis William Goettl, age 86, passed away on July 13, 2026 in Mankato, MN. Louis was born December 30, 1939 in Mankato to Louis and Marie Goettl. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1958. After high school, he worked for Mankato Poultry and Egg and worked on the family farm. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Donna Goettl (Marzinske), on April 18, 1961, he went to work for Goettl Feed for several years. He then worked at Kato Engineering, first as a winder, then as a night foreman supervisor until his retirement in 1999.
Louis enjoyed old time and country music. He enjoyed many trips to Branson, MO, and trips to Alaska and Hawaii. He also enjoyed the seven years he and Donna owned and operated Louie’s Toy Box in the former Madison East Center.
Louis is survived by his wife Donna of 65 years; son, Jeff; daughters, Kim (Kip) Bruender, Connie (Jeff) McCollum, Jackie (Karl) Keltgen; grandchildren, Joshua and Kristin McCollum, Coty (Amber) Bruender (Livia and Kinsley), Tyler (Emily) Bruender (Axel and Carter), Brooke Bruender (Marcos Macadoo [and Rainbow]), Casey (Aaron) Walechka (baby Karla); brother, Richard Goettl; sister-in-law, Elaine Goettl; many nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, CoCo and Hailey.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marie Hartung and Louis Goettl, Sr.; siblings, Julian (Mary) Goettl, Bernie (Delores) Goettl, Clete Goettl, Lorraine (Jerry) Frederick, Wilfrid (LaVonne) Goettl, Adeline (Curt) Sieberg, Roger (Sandra) Goettl, Elaine (Ike) Sweiger, Mary Lou (Marlyn) Denn, and Phyllis Goettl.
A Funeral Mass will occur at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 101 Church St., Saint Clair, MN 56080, on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11am, with a visitation beginning an hour prior at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Ecumen Hospice Care of Mankato or any organization of your choice.
