Lucena “Susie” Sue Birr, age 86 of Good Thunder passed peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Emmons, MN.

Susie was born on May 24, 1934 to Johan and Mercedes (Carrao) Lastima in Malitbog, Leyte, Philippines. She was united in marriage to Alvin Birr on March 31, 1966 in Olongapo, Luzon, Philippines. In September 1966, Alvin and Susie moved back to the states to Bremerton, WA. In 1967 they relocated to Dublin, CA where Susie retained a job as the Quality Control Supervisor for The North Face Camping Equipment Company in Berkley, CA. 17 years later, they moved again and made Good Thunder, MN their forever home. 

Susie was a spit fire of energy. She loved playing darts, bowling, singing karaoke, gambling, cooking and complaining. She was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 616 of Good Thunder.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin of Good Thunder; children, Amy Birr of Bay Point, CA, Betty (Robert) Bayle of Dublin, CA, John (Lynn) Birr of Sacramento, CA, Jerry (Annette) Birr of Good Thunder, MN, and Jona Birr of Emmons, MN.

She is also survived by her 4 sisters, 6 grandchildren: Joyce (Ubaldo), Robert Jr. (Samantha), Anjelica, Alexandra, Brandon, and Chriscille, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Joseilto Lastima, and one sister, Elisia Requellas.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
