Magdalene A. Krueger

Magdalene “Lena” A. Krueger, age 96, of Mankato, died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at New Perspective in Mankato.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. The family prefers memorials be given to the church.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lena was born September 5, 1924 to immigrant parents, Mathias and Apollonia (Gartner) Abel in Kasota. She graduated from Kasota High School in 1942. Following high school, she studied at Mankato Commercial College and then worked for Babcock Stone Company in Kasota. Lena was united in marriage to Harvey J. Krueger on February 19, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter.

In her free time, Lena enjoyed caring for her dog, Frisky, flowers, and some of her favorite times were family get-togethers. She was also a devoted caregiver for her husband for many years. Lena was a faithful member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She will be remembered as a caring and kind person who was willing to help anyone in need.

Lena is survived by her four children, Janice (Gary) Brown of Waseca, Tom Krueger and special friend Kathleen Parkinson of Iron Mountain, MI, Dave (Sue) Krueger of North Mankato, and Jerome "Jerry" (Mary) Krueger of Kasota; grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Krueger, Adam (Jillian) Krueger, Erica (Joe) Tummers, Gina (Jeremiah) Voss, Tim Brown, Rev. Jeff Brown, Cassidy (fiancé, Austin Janson) Krueger, and Matthew Krueger; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Brandon, Dominic, Ally, Katelyn, Ladden, and Collin; and many nieces and nephews.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey on December 18, 2010; and six siblings.
