Marcus Allen Hawker, age 29, of Lake Crystal, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on March 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Marcus’ life will be held at 3:00 p.m., April 11, 2026, at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m.
Marcus was born March 9, 1997, to Robert and Stacy (Armendariz) Hawker in Mankato.
Markie was a friend to many. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, family, playing video games, watching TV, going to the Casino where he always seemed to have “Lady Luck” on his side. At the end of July 2025, he was not so fortunate and was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. Markie’s battle was not easy; enduring chemotherapy every 12 days and recently 10 whole brain radiation treatments before his body could not keep up the fight. He never complained once about the pain he was in or his circumstances. Everyday was a good day for him even though we all could see his body getting weaker.
Markie is survived by his parents, Bob and Stacy Hawker; brother, Dylan Hawker; nephew, Cohen Hawker; grandparents, Larry and Bev Hawker, Debbie Armendariz; aunt, Kim (Rod) Lilly; cousins, Lindsey Lilly and Nathan Lilly; his fiancé, Bailey Burnett and their daughter, Millie Jo; aunt, Katie Krautkremer; and extended family.
Markie’s family would like to thank all the physicians that never gave up on him. All the wonderful medical staff that crossed paths and took care of him in the oncology clinic, emergency department, hospital, and nursing homes. Markie was truly blessed. His family is thankful for all the wonderful care that was given to him.
Please share a favorite memory of Marcus for his family.
