Mary Louise Haley, age 89, of Mankato, died on April 12, 2021 at PrimRose. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Fr. Paul van de Crommert officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, April 16 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake.

Mary was born on September 29, 1931 in Mankato, the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Landkamer) Ulmen.  She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato in 1949.  On June 8, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Haley at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.  They made their home in Madison Lake for ten years before moving to North Mankato and then Mankato in 2005. 

Mary was employed by Mankato School District 77 for 38 years as secretary and administrative assistant at the Mankato Technical College, now South Central College, retiring in 1990. 

A kind and gentle person, Mary was always ready to help out when the need arose.  Her hobbies included reading, knitting, crossword puzzles, playing cards, volunteering and traveling.  Mary and Don had visited all fifty states and traveled to over 50 foreign countries.  She especially enjoyed her bridge clubs and birthday groups, and having coffee or lunch with former classmates, co-workers, and friends and relatives. 

Mary was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary CCW, Good Counsel Auxiliary, Friends of Pathstone, a 50-year member of the former Catholic Daughter Court in Mankato, and state retired educator’s association. 

Mary is survived by one dear sister, Sister Evelyn Ulmen, SSND of Mankato; special nieces and nephews, Becky Ulmen and Larry (Laurie) Ulmen, all of North Mankato, and Cindy (Al) Paulson of Apple Valley; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Ethel Haley of Madison Lake, Sandra Haley and Carol Haley of Mankato; brother-in-law, Richard Heitner of Le Center; and many Haley nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald in 2015; parents, Edward and Gertrude Ulmen; brother, Paul (Donna) Ulmen; nephew, Ron Ulmen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dennis (Dorothy) Haley; brothers-in-law, Harold Haley, Walter Haley, and Dennis Haley; and sister-in-law, Leola Heitner.
