Mary Kathryn Hiniker, age 81, died peacefully Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at The Pillars of Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 5-7 p.m., at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Mary was born February 17, 1942, in Mankato, MN to Bernard and Anna (Schacherer) McGuire. On October 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to Michael Hiniker in Mankato, MN. Together, they worked the family farm in rural Mankato and raised their children. Mary was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed sewing, mending, gardening, canning, cooking, garage saling, and couponing. Later, she assisted her sister, Margie, at The Record Shop in the downtown mall in Mankato and worked in the kitchen at the School Sisters of Notre Dame where she attended high school. Mary was a longtime member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and was active in their quilting group. Above all, she treasured spending time with family.
Mary is survived by her children, Thomas Hiniker (Brian Williams), Gregory Hiniker (Jerri Moerke Hiniker), Julie Hiniker, and Kathryn “Kat” Hiniker (David Toft); sister, Margie Sweiger; brother, James McGuire; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Hiniker; son, Donald Hiniker; brother, Bernard McGuire; and sister, Frances (McGuire) Lorentz.
