Mary Kathryn "Mary Kay" Stark

November 18, 1958 — September 2, 2025

Saint Peter, MN

Our Beloved Mother, Mary Kathryn Stark “Mary Kay”, 66, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Saint Peter, Minnesota.

Born November 18, 1958 to Donald and Patricia (Burg) Stark in Saint Peter, Minnesota. She was the youngest of six children, who were raised on their family farm in Saint Peter. Mary Kay had always had a strong connection and fond childhood memories to the family farm.

One of Mary Kay’s many interests was gardening and landscaping, no doubt an influence of her mother. She attended a landscaping educational program in Naples, Florida, where she had moved after graduating from Saint Peter High School. She lived in South Florida with her beloved sister, Kimberly, who passed just weeks before Mary Kay, along with their brother, Charles “Chip” Stark. The passing of her two siblings left her devastated.

Mary Kay obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi, all while managing to raise her three baby boys. Her primary goal was to provide for her children and give them the best life, which led her home to Saint Peter where she and her boys would be surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Mary Kay bought her very own home in Saint Peter after saving money as a psychiatric nurse. She was so proud of that home, which she loved to decorate with antique furniture. Mary Kay was well known for her witty sense of humor. Her friends and family all knew this well. It set her apart from all of the rest.

Mary Kay was a fierce advocate and source of love for her children throughout life. She accepted and supported each one without hesitance. Mary Kay was always there when her children needed her through all of the ups and downs. In return, her boys loved, advocated, and supported her to the end.

There is no greater love than the love her three boys have for her. The family would like to thank who contributed to her happiness in one way or another throughout the years.

Mary Kay is survived by her sons: Hunter Whitson, Forest Whitson, and Shaman Whitson; five grandchildren (who she was so very find of); siblings: Daniel Stark, Terry Stark, and Pamela Thomas; nieces and nephews.

Mary Kay is preceded in death by her beloved parents; brother Charles “Chip” Stark; and sister, Kimberly Stark.
